What is it they say... 'confession is good for the soul.' They are actually right (whoever 'they' are). Confession is that point at which we lay out our sins before God and ask for His forgiveness. Confession is the point at which we confess that we cannot pay the penalty for our sin. Confession is that point at which we state we need Jesus and we believe that He died for us on the cross.

Proverbs 28:13 = "He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

Matthew 16:16 = "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God."

John 11:27 = "Yes, Lord," she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."

John 20:31 = "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."

Romans 10:9-11 = "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Philippians 2:9-11 = "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

1 Timothy 6:12 = "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

1 John 1:8-10 = "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."
